On the show a performance from the 2011 Carmel Bach Festival: "Big Band Bach" with Joe Lovano and the Monterey Jazz Festival's Next Generation Jazz Orchestra. Also.we hear some of the performers who will be at the Monterey Jazz Festival: Benny Green, the John Pizzarelli Quartet including special guest Bucky Pizzarelli, and Cow Bop.

Drummer Eddie Marshall passed away this last week at age 73. Information on his long career here, here, and here. We hear him with Bobby Hutcherson in the late '70's. Also here is a link to clip of a more recent performance with Hutcherson and Marshall playing "Old Devil Moon.".

The Festival is Sept. 16th through the 18th at the Monterey Fair Grounds, and KUSP @ MJF will continue its tradition of broadcasting live most of the main stage performances for our Central Coast listeners.
