Tonight's program is devoted to the music of McCoy Tyner, who was
born December 11, 1938 in Philadelphia. Tyner is a gifted
pianist, composer, and bandleader. He gained prominence as a
member of the "classic" John
Coltrane Quartet, from 1960-1965. We hear him in a variety of
contexts, as leader and sideman, from solo to big band.
