Tonight's program continues our tribute to Charles Mingus, born April 22, 1922.  The bassist, composer, and bandleader was a major figure in jazz history, and his influence has grown since his death in 1979.  We also remember Juno Lewis, who died this week at age 70 in Los Angeles.  An instrument maker and community leader, he met John Coltrane during Coltrane's rare visit to L.A. in October, 1965.  They collaborated on 2 pieces of music, presented here.
