The Martin / Bonny Doon fire is now 100% contained. CAL Fire now sets the total acres burned to 520.

All evacuation orders have now been lifted. Martin Road was the last to open.

This sketch is a person of interest who CAL Fire investigators believe may have information concerning the Martin Fire in the Bonny Doon area of Santa Cruz County. He is described as a White Male, 18-22 Years of Age, 5’8 to 5’11 Feet Tall, with a thin build, and sandy colored hair. Anyone recognizing this person should contact the Cal Fire Arson Hotline at 1-800-468-4408. This is a confidential line and the caller may remain anonymous.

The fire burned within the region bounded by Ice Cream Grade, Pine Flat Road, Smith Grade and Empire Grade.

Three residences were destroyed and one was damaged in the fire. Five outbuildings were also destroyed and two were damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The fire began shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday June 11, 2008, near the 1200 block of Martin Rd. in the Bonny Doon area of Santa Cruz County.
