The Summit Fire has been fully contained since Wednesday, May 28th. The fire burned a total of 4,270 acres
All residents who had been forced to evacuate are now allowed to return to their homes. All roads in the area are now open, although drivers and residents are advised to be aware that fire crews will still be working in the are for weeks to come.
The total number of home lost in the blaze was updated to 35, according to Cal Fire. Sixteen minor injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The fire was first reported Thursday morning May 22, at about 5:30 a.m., and grew rapidly throughout the day, being fanned by unseasonably high winds.
There were at least 350 mandatory & 1400 voluntary home evacuations. and the Governor declared a State of Emergency in Santa Cruz County.
