Sunday, September 28th - Bullies and Victims Audio
If your child is a victim of a bully at school, here are some ideas:
• Discuss being assertive and clear, such as looking the bully in the eye and confidently stating, "Please don't do that".
• Inform the teacher or school immediately. They can help.
• Encourage your child to imagine the next time s/he has an encounter with the bully, and decide ahead of time how s/he would like to respond.

Sunday, August 17th - Ways to prepare your student for school [audio]
• Check the school uniform policy or dress code before you do your Back to School clothes shopping.
• Do not assume the teacher will give your child the basic supplies, such as paper, pencils, folders, and binders. Instead, purchase these items before the first day.
• Provide your child with a backpack strong enough to carry library and text books, a multiple subject binder, and plenty of pencils and paper.
• Walk your child around campus before the first day. This will allow them to feel more comfortable and confident ahead of time. Make sure he or she knows where the office, cafeteria, and bathrooms are located.
• Check to see if school breakfast and lunch are provided. Make sure your child eats healthy foods, and perhaps send them with a snack for recess.
• Your child will need a good night's sleep in order to be rested for a busy day ahead.
• Have your child pick out their clothes the night before and keep their backpack in the same spot in their room. This will help them get to class on time and prepared.
